Wiewiora & Dunn Orthodontics Offers Metal Braces for Children, Teens & Adults

Wiewiora & Dunn offers metal dental braces for teens and adults. Consisting of standard metal brackets, they are one of the most commonly used tools to correct various orthodontic issues – including crooked teeth, crowding, gaps and issues with the bite. The brackets are placed on the teeth with an adhesive and connected with a special wire. They are tightened periodically, producing a steady pressure to gradually move teeth into the proper alignment.

Traditional braces are more effective at treating extreme overcrowding than other options – such as clear braces or Invisalign aligners – and are less expensive. They give us the control to move the teeth in small increments at a time. With current advances in materials and construction, traditional braces are now smaller, sleeker and more comfortable than ever before.

The components of Metal braces

  • Bands that encircle the tooth
  • Brackets attached to the bands to hold wires in place
  • Wires that are adjusted to apply pressure to the teeth
  • Elastics that attach to hooks on the brackets
  • Headgear and other complementary devices used in conjunction with braces

Although patients may have a preference for a specific type of braces or aligner, Dr. Wiewiora or Dr. Dunn will recommend the type that is best for your specific need, based upon your diagnosis and treatment plan.
